BABIES CAN CATCH DENGUE BEFORE BIRTH

Being pregnant is one of the biggest joys in life. You’d do anything to protect your unborn baby. But did you know that a bite from the wrong mosquito could give you and your baby dengue?

Just as the nutrients from what you eat and drink passes to your baby via the umbilical cord, the dengue virus can infect your baby before he’s born.

Complications arising from dengue during pregnancy include premature birth, low birth weight or stillbirth.

A baby who’s been exposed to the dengue virus before birth can be infected again later in life, and it’s even more serious the second time around.

Dengue could strike any of us at any time. Remember to prevent little bites before they become big trouble.
